Visa
Visitors to
Suriname require a visa, with the exception of CARICOM,
Netherlands Antilles and Swiss citizens. You can
apply for visa at the Surinamese embassy or consulate in
your own country. If there is not embassy or consulate
in your country, you should apply for your visa in
writing well in advance.
Vaccinations
Unfortunately, certain diseases, such as tuberculosis,
hepatitis and yellow fever, still occur in
Suriname, so it is prudent to have vaccinations against
these.
Consult your doctor or a health care institution that is
specialized in tourist vaccinations.
It is advisable to start vaccinations:
-
About 4 weeks before you leave if your trip lasts less
than 3 months
- About
6 weeks before you leave if your trip lasts more than 6
months
Malaria
There are many beautiful places all over that you can
visit with various tour operators. However, malaria is
very common in some areas. Fortunately, malaria
prevention is good. Consult your doctor for this too, or
ask a specialized organization. All medicines and
definitely the most effective ones are available
in
Suriname from various pharmacies.

The local currency is the Surinamese Dollar, but you can
pay with Euros and US Dollars
almost everywhere in Suriname.
